Real Number Properties II Exercise

Whenever you're completing operations on real numbers, we need to keep in mind several Real Number Properties:

Property 4: If you're multiplying a number a parentheses together, where numbers are being added or subtracted in the parentheses, you can multiply each element in the parentheses by the "outside" number. If that doesn't make sense, look at the examples below:

$$a(b+c)=ab+ac$$

$$5(7-5)=5\times7 -5\times5=35-25=10$$

Property 5: Adding $0$ to any number returns the original number.

$$a+0=a$$

Property 6: Multiplying any number by $0$ results in $0$.

$$a \times 0 = 0$$

Property 7: Multiplying anything by $1$ just returns the original number.

$$a \times 1 = a$$
